Delsar Victim Simulator

Training tool for victim search and calibration unit for seismic sensors

Victim simulator offering versatility

The Savox Delsar Victim Simulator (DVS), serves as both an invaluable training tool for victim search and rescue and a surface material calibration unit for the Delsar seismic sensors.

For training exercises, the simulator can be concealed within a rubble pile on training grounds or within a garage, emitting a constant tapping sound for trainees to locate. The remote control offers trainers flexibility to vary the rhythm, simulating real-life search scenarios where victims may produce inconsistent sounds due to fatigue.

The Savox Delsar Victim Simulator (DVS) ensures accurate readings on various surface materials encountered at the search scene.

Optimizing sensor placement using seismic properties

Various materials such as concrete, steel, soil, grass, carpet, wood, and gravel possess distinct seismic properties that influence the optimal placement distance between sensors. Soft materials absorb vibrations, potentially limiting the effective distance between sensors below the provided 10-meter cables. A straightforward test using the Delsar Victim Simulator assists search teams in determining the safe and allowable sensor distance by utilizing a consistent vibration signature.

Instructions for calibrating sensor placement

The surface material calibration procedure begins with positioning the Savox Delsar Victim Simulator on the desired material for sensor placement. Next, the seismic sensor is moved away from the DVS until its signal is no longer audible through the headset. Subsequently, the sensor is returned to the last audible point, and the distance from the DVS is measured, which is then multiplied by 2 to determine the maximum distance between two seismic sensors. Lastly, calibration is repeated when transitioning to a new material to ensure accurate readings are maintained.
